2015 Beauty Favourites

Wednesday, 30 December 2015

This will be my last post for this year. WOW. It has been 6 months since I started blogging. Can you believe that 2015 is nearly over? Where did this year go? 2015 has been a year packed with new trends, new makeup, different changes and more. I have been loving a lot of things this year that I thought that I would compile into one huge post.

MAKEUP:

MUA Matte Liquid Liner & MUA Wet Look Liquid Liner

These two liners have been my favourite for this whole year. They are very good products that would be great for those who are starting to apply liqiud liner. The Matte Black formula is my favourite liner out of the two just because I prefer the finish that it gives. Both liners can stay on all day without smudging or moving which I love about them. To take this off you will need a good makeup remover like Garnier Micellar Water or Clinique Take The Balm Off.

Clinique Even Better Foundation

Discovering this a couple of months was the best decision I ever made because out of all the foundations I have used, I am in love with this. A little goes a long way with this foundation especially due to its size. You are able to keep this foundation for more than 5 months whilst using it on a daily basis depending on how much foundation you prefer to use. It is a full coverage foundation that brightens up your face and covers any hyperpigmentation. Those with sensitive skin, this foundation is directed towards you.

Clinique High Impact Mascara

I would repurchase this product many times because it is an amazing product. Personally, I love mascara that lengthen the eyelashes whilst creating that individual effect. Which this mascara does brillantly. I have been asked many times whether or not I wear false eyelashes once this mascara is on my eyes, that is how good it is. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a mascara.

SKINCARE:

Self Heating Masks:

One of my go-to masks are self-heating masks. These masks give me a lovely hydrated glow after using them, they don't dry out my skin nor irritate it.

Aveeno Skincare:

All of Aveeno products this year have been amazing from their moisturising lotion to their facial wash. As they are made out of natural products such as oatmeal, they do leave the skin feeling soft and much more brighter.

ETC:

Daisy By Marc Jacobs

I spray this perfume at least everyday. If it is not everyday my clothes are continously smelling of this floral beautiful scent. It has now become my signature scent and would make a perfect present for anyone.

OPI Nude Nail Polishes

I have been getting my nails done so many times this year and I have been only getting nude polishes from OPI such as Samoan Sand. I love their polishes so much, they last long and look absolutely great on.

Can't wait for what next year brings!

The Christmas Look 2015

Monday, 28 December 2015

MERRRY CHRISTMAS. I put this post up quite late, I know but I was without a laptop for a while but I am back. Before I continue, I hope you all had an amazing day! With trying to incorporate the Christmas colours into the makeup menu and changing ways that I apply my makeup, I thought I'd show you what I wore on my face on Christmas Day!!!

Today I thought I'd start with my skincare until the application of my lipstick. To wash the face, I use the Clinique Liquid Facial Soap, I have had this for a couple of weeks and I must say it works wonders. It is so soft and gentle without irritating the skin. As this is part of the 3 step routine, I use the Clarifying Lotion with a cotton ball and apply it all over my face/throat. Last but not least, I use the Clinique Moisturising Gel which is very lightweight. You'd think after all this, my face would feel very heavy but it doesn't. As I have been spoken in the past about the Vitamin E Toning Mist Review, I spray a couple of this on my face.

After all that commotion with the face, I let everything sink in for approximately 10 minutes before moving on to my makeup. I don't use a primer, I know that's bad but I don't. I mix two foundations together which is the Clinique Even Better Foundation and the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer. I only to do this as I find that it provides a better, glowy finish to my skin. To apply this on the face, I use the Body Shop Pointed Foundation Brush. To blend this in, I use the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge damp.

To conceal those under eyes as we have been up late wrapping loads of presents, I have been using the LA Pro Girl Concealer, I put on a lot around my mouth, nose and any blemishes. To set my foundation, I set my face with the MAC Blot Pressed Powder. Moving on to the eyes, I used this eyeshadow book with the dark brown shimmery eyeshadow all over my eyes. To brighten up the inner corner, I used MAC LLAMA with a small brush. As I love winged liner, I used to MUA Matte Black Liquid Liner which I have spoken about in My Favourite Liquid Liner Post.

To coat my lashes, I used the Clinique High Impact Mascara by applying 2-3 coats on each eye both bottom and top lashes. This mascara doesn't clump my lashes and creates that 'false eyelashes' effect.

To lightly contour my face, I used a darker powder around my forehead and cheekbones. I didn't apply blush but I highlighted down the bridge of my nose, cupid's bow, cheekbones. To do this, I use the Revlon Highlighting Palette in Bronze Glow with the Real Techniques Contour Brush.

Before applying my makeup, I put on Carmex on my lips so that when it does come to applying on lipstick, they wouldn't dry out. I outlined my lips with a MAC lip liner in VINO and applied the Clinique Pop Lip Colour in Nude Pop.

Yes, there are a lot of Clinique products in this post but that is just because I love Clinique not that I am sponsored by them or anything like that.

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year.

My Favourite Liquid Liner

Tuesday, 22 December 2015

I have used many liquid liners for my face and I have come to a conclusion that I love liquid liners. I am not a huge fan of the pen applicators that others use despite me trying to love it. So for today's post I thought I'd share with you my favourite liquid liner which is very very inexpensive.

The Matte Black Eyeliner from MUA - £2.

Honestly. I need to meet with the manufacturers and the company of MUA to praise them about this eyeliner. It's beautiful. The finish is matte black, the applicator is so easy to use. You are able to change the width and shape of your wing very easily. There's nothing that I can't say bad about this product honestly. It is matte black, I can't express how great this liner is. Its price is unbelievable under £5, I purchase two at a time to be honest.

Come back tomorrow for another post!

Christmas Day Makeup | Guest Post

Monday, 14 December 2015

Hi I'm Jasmine and I blog over at Jasmine Talks Beauty. Thank you Lee for letting me post on your blog today. I thought it would be nice to share my Christmas Day makeup picks in case you're lacking on inspiration for the big day!

I start with my trusty Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (£31), which is medium coverage and so easy to blend in and build on. The finish is Satin, so reduces my shine without making my face feel too matte or drying. It's also super long-lasting, which is great for long day.

After this I use my current go-to concealer pairing. The Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (£17.50) is such a great all-rounder; it's a medium-full coverage that's light and fluffy enough to eliminate both blemishes and dark circles. To brighten up the under-eyes, I go for the concealer-highlighter end of the Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand (£29). I usually blend it in with the Real Techniques Setting Brush and it really does do an amazing job of lifting my eye area.

For a bit of festive sparkle on my cheekbones, I reach for my Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector (£30). It's a gorgeous golden-champagne with a hint of peach that's pretty much my perfect highlight shade. I've seen this colour work on so many different skin tones and now it's available through Space NK, so I definitely recommend checking it out. The formula is so soft and creamy, it blends effortlessly and seriously packs a punch in terms of pigmentation. Next I apply a bit of my holy grail Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure (£28). I bang on about it all the time but it really is the perfect blusher formula; it's so creamy, surprisingly pigmented, applies and lasts like a dream and gives a lit from within look without a speck of glitter. The plummy mauve colour is just perfect for winter too.

For eyeshadow, I think the Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow in Bronze (£7.99) is perfect. It's shimmery and in a gorgeous deep chocolate-brown shade and can be applied in one quick swipe across the eyelids. Pretty much my perfect everyday formula is Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara (£19.50). It isn't going to give you crazy amounts of volume but it adds serious length and holds a curl throughout the day.

Finally I finish off with Bobbi Brown's Sheer Lip Colour in Carolina (£20). On Christmas Day you probably don't want too much of a fussy lipstick considering you'll be eating and drinking a lot! Carolina is a rosy berry shade that feels festive but the sheer formula means it isn't too much and is very easy to re-apply.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and have a lovely Christmas! Thank you again Lee for having me on to guest post.

Thank you Jasmine for this amazing post!

Vitamin E Toning Mist Review

Saturday, 12 December 2015

I love makeup a lot, but skincare is a routine that we should all take seriously. Skincare has now become very important to me and I try my hardest to make my skin more refreshed and better. As I do have sensitive skin, I like to take care of my skin to the best of the ability that I can.

Vitamin E Refreshing Toning Mist:

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased the Vitamin E Toning Mist just because I have been trying to tone my skin a bit more as the colder seasons are upon us. I read Mollie Manning's post on how good the Vitamin E range is from Superdrug. So as I am a avid reader of Mollie, I decided to purchase the toning mist as a start of many purchases of their products.

I have been using it for 3 weeks, I must say that this mist works well on my face so far I have not broken out nor has it irritated my skin. I use this mist twice a day, after I have moisturised my face in the morning and in the evening after I have taken off my makeup. In the morning, I use a mist on my face before applying on my makeup. I feel like this mist has given me a subtle glow underneath my makeup which makes my face look more glowly and bright. Applying it night ensures my face is moisturised as well as feeling extremely soft until the morning.

In regards to toning my skin, I have seen an improvement. My face looks more brighter, the patches that I wanted to tone out has been improving as well. I like the way it smells as well, yes I am that person who smells every product they use just because.

As the weeks go by, I wish that it will continue to be the same and eventually I will have even toned skin but for now I am absolutely in love with this product. My skin is currently extremely soft that's not soley down to this product but it has played a huge part in my current skincare routine.

Have you tried anything from the Vitamin E range?

Hope you read yesterday's post on a Christmas Party Makeup with BeautybyKelsey.  So it is Christmas, you know what this means! The presents. I am sure a lot of you reading this have not finished buying your presents for loved ones. If you have, thumbs up to you because I have only bought a few presents so far. If you are stuck on finding the perfect present for the ladies in your life, stick around and read along. I am sure hopefully by the end of this post, you will have an idea/product to buy for them!

PERFUME

Gift sets are the best things to buy for people, you usually have three presents in one for a small price fulfilling your ladies needs. Personally, I do love perfume gift sets some ideas of gift sets could be Marc Jacobs Daisy Gift Set (£50.40) which includes the bottle, body cream and wash. They all smell delightful, I was lucky enough to receive this last year and would recommend it to anyone who has had their eye on some perfume gift sets. Some more perfume gift sets are the Estee Lauder Small Wonders Gift Set (£36) all the fragrances smell absolutely lovely for everyday use and some for special evening nights, Chloe Love Story Eau de Parfum Gift Set (£57) and Valentino Donna Eau De Parfum Set (£69).

More perfume ideas:

SKINCARE

Moving on to skincare, I am sure that all of the lovely ladies in your life care for their skin dearly. Why not make their skincare collection grow and buy them some high-end beauty products? We all know that Clinique's skincare products are absolutely amazing hence why I also asked for them for this Christmas. For a lovely stocking filler, you could purchase the Clinique Take The Balm Off (£22). The Clinique 3-Step Intro Kit (£20) - I have had my eye on this for a while. I think it makes a brilliant present as it has a clarifying lotion, cleanser and facial moisturiser for an inexpensive price. For a high-end product, you could purchase the Elemis Growing Skin Collection (£45) - save 15% with the code XMAS15 -. Another high-end product is from Sunday Riley, I am sure that a lot of you have had your eye on the Sunday Riley Oils for £85. For half the price you could purchase a Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm (£46) or the Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment Serum (£85).

More skincare ideas:

MAKEUP

I know you were all waiting for the makeup side of this. There are so many lovely makeup items to buy for the ladies in your life as well as yourself. Aside from the ones that have great value, I will also add more below for you to click on, make sure you turn off your ad blockers so that you can see them. Cult Beauty are superb at this time of year, as I am sure all of you know contouring has been a massive trend this year. They are selling a 6 piece Deluxe Contour Set (£20.75) as well as this they are selling The Blushed Blush Palette (£16) also from Morphe! Am I the only who is obsessed with the 35 colour palette from Morphe, the ombre plum colours look absolutely divine!

More about makeup, the BECCA cosmetics have been a major go-to for many people and their Becca Opal On The Go Collection (£20) includes both the liquid and pressed formulas. Moving on to the higher end of presents, At Harvey Nichols, there are Stila Eternally Yours Mini Liquid Lipstick Set (£29). Liquid lipsticks are on the high now-a-days, this may be a present for someone this year. Moving on to the amazing Tom Ford, their Lipstick set of 10 (£270) offers such beautiful colours. I am in awe of the Tom Ford lipsticks and I might need to spoil myself. The famous Charlotte Tilbury also has a limited Christmas edition eyeshadow and eyeliner duo (£29). Last but not least Bobbi Brown, Bobbi Bobbi Brown. Their art stick trio (£42) with Harlow Red, Electric Pink and their first nude shade.

More makeup ideas:

CANDLES

I am a sucker for a great candle as I am sure a lot of you reading this are. Yankee Candles, White Company, Bath and Body Works have such amazing candles. This year on my wishlist is the candles from White Company such as White Lavender Large Candle (£50) it smells so beautiful. Fresh Fig Signature Candle (£20) and Winter Signature Candle (£25) are also on my wishlist. The White Company candles would make a great present for anyone to be honest, for 20% off your £75 purchase with the code: AH657.  I don't know about you, but I prefer candles that smell like laundry or cotton, just gentle scents. So all of my Yankee Candles are the same usual scents such as Soft Blanket and Baby Powder. Bath and Body Works always seem to have such great deals on their candles, for those who love Christmas scented candles this would be the best place to purchase them. At the moment they are having 3-wick candles for 45% off, I really want to go on a massive haul just on candles from here. Is that sad?

More candle ideas:

Wow! I spoke a lot, didn't I? I hope that you enjoyed this Christmas Guide.

Christmas Party Makeup | BeautybyKelsey

Wednesday, 9 December 2015

Hey everyone, I’m Kelsey, and I blog over at Beauty by Kelsey. I was so excited when Lee asked me to do a guest post for her blog, and even more excited when she asked that it be Christmas themed - I didn’t have much Christmas content planned for my own blog, so it was fun to get into the spirit!

I’ve got a couple Christmas parties coming up this month, so I thought I’d go through what kind of look I’ll be going for this year. There’s nothing groundbreaking here, with lots of shimmer and a red lip.

I’m a huge lover of lightweight bases, so the only foundation I really have for more special occasions is the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. I like that it makes my skin look perfect without feeling heavy or going cakey. To really brighten up my undereyes, I only reach for the Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush-On Glow BB Highlighter. It gives great coverage while also highlighting the area, making it the most perfect undereye concealer.

As I’m doing a bold lip, I like to keep that balanced with a bolder brow - my go-to for these is always the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. Once you get the hang of it, it’s the easiest way to get a sculpted (but not overboard) brow. For eyes I’m definitely going to be using the NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Himalia. It’s a nice silvery-taupe shade, but when used wet it’s just stunning. It gives an almost molten look to the eyes. In the crease and on the lower lashline I’ll keep it simple with a few matte shadows from the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette for some definition. I’m not the greatest with liner, but this look calls for a black liquid or gel - the one I get along with the most is the L’Oreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner in Blackest Black. I’ll finish off the eyes with lashings of a waterproof black mascara, either the L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga or the Maybelline Lash Sensational, my two favorites for more drama.

I don’t contour on the daily, but I think a special occasion calls for it. I look no further than the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder because on me it’s the best shade for mimicking a natural shadow. It’s quite pigmented, but it’s still simple to keep it looking natural. I don’t wear too much blush, but as we’re going for a red lip I wouldn’t want to look too washed out. The Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blush in Baby Love is perfect - it’s just a lovely nude shade with a tiny hint of shimmer to bring some life into the complexion. And I can’t go anywhere without some highlighter. The prettiest one I own is probably the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact in Highlight 01. It gives the most beautiful candlelit glow to the skin that I think would go perfectly with a Christmas look. I’ll also take the time to set my makeup with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light - I have to be careful with powders as my skin gets quite dehydrated, but this one adds so much light and luminosity to my skin.

And lastly, the most important part: the red lip. The one I’ll definitely be using over and over is the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red (01). It’s one of my favorite liquid lipstick formulas and is guaranteed not to budge throughout gorging myself on cookies and Christmas ham. Since I know this is probably hard to get for most of you, another favorite is the MAC Lipstick in Russian Red. It’s a very similar color to the Sephora offering, and the matte formula isn’t too drying on the lips.

What products will you reach for upcoming Christmas parties?

Thank you so much for another one of your amazing posts, Kelsey!!

Everyday Makeup Routine

Monday, 7 December 2015

Hello! Welcome to Blogmas Day Eight. Hope you read yesterday's post on my Winter Skincare Edition.
I'd liked to say that I have got better at applying makeup, I've got better at doing my winged eyeliner and just making my face look more whole. Does that make sense? Haha, I hope so. More presentable. So I thought I'd put together my everyday makeup routine in a montage of photos. I have been trying to improve my makeup skills days on end and I have finally got to that point where I am extremely happy with the outcome. Next is a high-end beauty haul that includes a certain Hourglass Ambient Palette. Sometimes, it changes by putting on some eyeshadow but I see myself using this routine more on average days. The products will be listed below.
PRODUCTS MENTIONED IN THE PHOTO:

Hope you liked the post! Make sure you come back tomorrow for Blogmas Day Nine! It's already day nine, time is going by so fast.

Winter Skincare Edition

As the months change, so do our skincare routines. More moisturising and caring for the skin becomes embedded into our daily routines. This post includes my skincare routine as well as why I have chosen this specific routine from morning to evening.
Morning Skincare Routine:
Recently, I have been very specific about my skincare routine as I do have sensitive skin, I have to be careful regarding the products I use on my face. For my sensitive skincare, I use some cold water on my face just because I am usually excessively tired when I wake up in the morning. To daily exfoliate, I use the St Ives Facial Scrub in Apricot. It has little beads inside which easily glide against your face without causing any spots or making your skin irritated. With this facial scrub, I always find my skin extremely soft every time and my spots vanish.
To take off my scrub, I use a warm wet flannel. I prefer using a flannel to take off my scrub. Moving on to moisturising, I use the Aveeno Daily Moisturiser. Made out of natural ingredients like oatmeal, this relieves dry skin and creates a lovely flawless base for my makeup. I love using this moisturiser so much, to be quite frank I don't know what I was doing before this. I currenly have 4 bottles waiting for me to open.
Evening Skincare Routine.
To take off my makeup, I use the Garnier Micellar Water with a cotton pad. I use a lot of these pads on average I used 5-7 pads, is that normal? But, I like to ensure that my makeup is fully off before I wash my face. I have been using this for a couple of months and I love the way it takes off my makeup, it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. Also, I find that it makes my face appear smooth as well as feel smooth. To wash my face, I use a more gentle scrub just because I feel like I have exfoliated my face a lot in the morning so I use the Aveeno Gentle Facial Scrub which smells like apples. Massaging this into the skin with warm water, gently cleanses and exfoliates my skin thus leaving my face with a fresh feeling. To moisturise, I use the Aveeno Daily Moisturiser again! For me, I have to moisturise my face twice as day as my skin gets dry a lot in the winter.
I have been using a facial toning mist on my face before I got to bed and so far I have been loving it a lot. It has been toning my skin and looks great beneath makeup.  An in-depth review will be coming up soon and when it does, I will link it here.

The Natural Summer Highlight For Winter

Hello! Welcome back to Blogmas Day Five, hope you read yesterday's post on what I amCurrently Loving.
I love highlighters, I do not have many highlighters but highlighting is my second favourite thing about makeup other than liquid eyeliner. For today's post, I found that my favourite highlighter is best for all year round.
The highlighter that I am talking about is the Revlon Highlighting Palette in Bronze Glow. It's neutral, bronzing glow gives the face a lovely summer glow. Especially during these colder periods it's always nice to have a highlighter that lasts all day and provides a lovely finish. The bronze glow evidently shows on your face and the fact that it is affordable makes everything much better. I am the sort of the person that packs on a lot of highlighter just because I can and I love the shimmer. Highlighting the high points of my face include my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on my chin gives a natural finish. I do love highlighter but I personally don't like it too in your face for me specifically. So being able to use loads of it on my face satisfies me a lot. I don't use a fan brush to apply my highlighter, but I used the Real Techniques Contour Brush to apply my highlighter. It's tapered size makes it easier and ideal to apply the highlighter as well as having a better finish.  I am on the hunt for more highlighters such as the Anastasia Beverly Hills in So HollywoodBecca Opal HighlighterChampagne Pop Highlighter and The Balm Mary Loumanizer

Make sure you come back tomorrow at 6am for Blogmas Day Seven!

Hello. Welcome back to Blogmas Day Five, I hope you read yesterday's post on A Small Beauty Haul.
Despite the fact that I did do my November Favourites not too long ago (inserts a plug here), but there are more things that I have been loving at the moment. Hence, this blog post.
Liquid Eyeliner
I love liquid eyeliner, I love the wing. It is my favourite thing about makeup and I have been through a lot of eyeliners over the past years but finally I have reached a conclusion that my favourite liquid eyeliner is from the inexpensive, affordable brand MUA. Their Matte Black Liquid Eyeliner is my favourite thing at the moment, I am in love. Applying eyeliner is easy with this applicator.
Baking
I am a massive baker, I love baking. All I do is bake and you might be seeing a blog post on that Monday for Blogmas Day Seven! I love trying out new recipes and basically challenging myself. My favourite things to bake are fruit cake and chocolate cookies.
Youtube
There are many Youtubers that I am loving at the moment, but if I had to narrow it down it would be Tanya Burr, Zoella, Carli Bybel, Nicole Guerriero, Grace Francesca and IntheFrow. I have been loving the channels for the past couple of months but recently,I don't know there is something about their channels recently that has made me love them more.
Bloggers
Haha, I am sure that you were all expecting me to talk about some bloggers that I have been loving at the moment. They are TheCosmeticAsthetic, JasmineTalksBeauty, BethNorton and BeautyByKelsey. You might be seeing 1 or 2 of these lovely bloggers on my blog very soon! So don't miss out. But I have been loving a lot of bloggers at the moment, reading blogs has now become a must-do on a daily basis.
