Hey everyone, I’m Kelsey, and I blog over at Beauty by Kelsey. I was so excited when Lee asked me to do a guest post for her blog, and even more excited when she asked that it be Christmas themed - I didn’t have much Christmas content planned for my own blog, so it was fun to get into the spirit!

I’ve got a couple Christmas parties coming up this month, so I thought I’d go through what kind of look I’ll be going for this year. There’s nothing groundbreaking here, with lots of shimmer and a red lip.

I’m a huge lover of lightweight bases, so the only foundation I really have for more special occasions is the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. I like that it makes my skin look perfect without feeling heavy or going cakey. To really brighten up my undereyes, I only reach for the Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush-On Glow BB Highlighter. It gives great coverage while also highlighting the area, making it the most perfect undereye concealer.

As I’m doing a bold lip, I like to keep that balanced with a bolder brow - my go-to for these is always the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. Once you get the hang of it, it’s the easiest way to get a sculpted (but not overboard) brow. For eyes I’m definitely going to be using the NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Himalia. It’s a nice silvery-taupe shade, but when used wet it’s just stunning. It gives an almost molten look to the eyes. In the crease and on the lower lashline I’ll keep it simple with a few matte shadows from the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette for some definition. I’m not the greatest with liner, but this look calls for a black liquid or gel - the one I get along with the most is the L’Oreal Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner in Blackest Black. I’ll finish off the eyes with lashings of a waterproof black mascara, either the L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga or the Maybelline Lash Sensational, my two favorites for more drama.

I don’t contour on the daily, but I think a special occasion calls for it. I look no further than the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder because on me it’s the best shade for mimicking a natural shadow. It’s quite pigmented, but it’s still simple to keep it looking natural. I don’t wear too much blush, but as we’re going for a red lip I wouldn’t want to look too washed out. The Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blush in Baby Love is perfect - it’s just a lovely nude shade with a tiny hint of shimmer to bring some life into the complexion. And I can’t go anywhere without some highlighter. The prettiest one I own is probably the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact in Highlight 01. It gives the most beautiful candlelit glow to the skin that I think would go perfectly with a Christmas look. I’ll also take the time to set my makeup with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light - I have to be careful with powders as my skin gets quite dehydrated, but this one adds so much light and luminosity to my skin.

And lastly, the most important part: the red lip. The one I’ll definitely be using over and over is the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in Always Red (01). It’s one of my favorite liquid lipstick formulas and is guaranteed not to budge throughout gorging myself on cookies and Christmas ham. Since I know this is probably hard to get for most of you, another favorite is the MAC Lipstick in Russian Red. It’s a very similar color to the Sephora offering, and the matte formula isn’t too drying on the lips.

What products will you reach for upcoming Christmas parties?

Thank you so much for another one of your amazing posts, Kelsey!!
