January Favourites, Giorgio Armani

Another month, another post of favourites. I still can’t believe how quick January has gone but yet I felt like it dragged. For me January was an eye-opener and a good month, I celebrated my birthday and I’m still celebrating it in a way. We are only a few days away from February, I can’t wait to see what this new month holds. Now, on to my favourites…

Skin Chemists Rose Quartz Youthful Facial Oil* | I was kindly sent this recently and I have been using it ever since. I will definitely do a more in depth review next month, but at the moment I can tell that my skin is definitely benefiting from it. The oil contains Rose Otto Oil and Almond Oil which combined together protects the skin whilst also giving it a youthful glow. Underneath my makeup, this complexion glows and keeps my skin soft. I like to use this twice a day, with only 2-3 drop in my palm after washing my face with my Clinique Facial Soap. (Check out my Instagram this week for a coupon code so that you can get 15% off this oil if you would like to purchase).

Tarte So Fine Mircoliner & Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in “Trooper” | post | As you probably will know or can tell, I am obsessed with winged liner like I talked about in my Makeup Battles: Highend vs Drugstore post. Both of this liners were my personal favourites this month, both worked well and applied beautifully. I haven’t had any trouble with these liners so far so I will definitely be purchasing them again once they have run out.

Giorgio Armani Si Perfume | post | Another birthday present! This fragrance has been my everyday fragrance of this month, the good thing about this perfume is that you don’t have to spray it every day it lingers on your clothes for a very long time. Even after you’ve put them in the washing machine! It’s a gorgeous woody scent that I am obsessed with, can’t wait to try out the other perfumes from the Si range.

Clinique Superbalanced Liquid Foundation | I purchase this last month but I have been loving it at lot. Using a beauty blender to blend this foundation out provides a lovely glow, the one thing that I love most about this foundation is that it is very lightweight. I personally don’t like the feeling of makeup so I always opt for products that are very lightweight and ensure that my application is not too heavy. This foundation is amazing with medium to buildable full coverage, a good foundation to have in your collection.

What have you been loving this month?

Giorgio Armani Si, Scent That Has Me Swoon

If you read my All I Want For Christmas post, you'll know that I had this perfume on my list. Kindly enough, my friends purchased this as a birthday present. So, I thought that I would talk about my obsession with this scent.

As you probably know there are a lot of different scents of the Giorgio Armani Si, some of which I definitely would love to try out. The first time I smelt it I knew the reason behind my love for it, one of the heart notes in this perfume is Freesia. I love the smell of Freesia because it's quite sweet hence my love for the Jo Malone scent in English Pear and Freesia. How many times have I said Freesia? This scent is incredibly perfect for this time of year as it is quite intense and woody with a romantic twist to it, especially with the foggy mornings and cold weather that is happening at the moment, this would be a great scent to spray on yourself. This warm scent lingers on your skin and clothes all day and more with the sweet Vanilla scent accompanied by Egyptian Jasmine to give it that beautiful fragrance

Top Notes: Cassis, Bergamot, Mandarin
Heart Notes: Freesia, Rose de Mai, Neroli, Egyptian Jasmine
Base Notes: Woody scents, Amber, Vanilla, Ambroxan, Patchouli

Have you tried any of the Giorgio Armani Si Perfumes?

The Makeup Battles: Highend vs Drugstore Liners

Monday, 23 January 2017

There is no secret that I have a serious admiration/obession with eye makeup, in particular liquid liner. I can remember the first time I tried to do a winged liner look, my liner look like a huge blop but after a few years of practicing, I think it is fair to say I've nailed it. I have used a lot of eyeliners, some of which I have thrown away hence when they are not in the photo but I will definitely talk about them below. So for today's post, I thought I'd talk about my opinions on the highend and drugstore liners that I've used over the years.

HIGHEND: Tarte So Fine Mircoliner | I have briefly spoken about this liquid liner in my Tarte Pretty Paintbox Review but this post is about a full review. Before receieving this paintbox, I hadn't heard much about the Tarte So Fine Microliner before, but out of everything that it contained I was so excited to try this out. First, I drew a line on my hand and I saw how dark it was. I love the applicator, it is a felt tip applicator which is different to what I am used to. I have worn this on my eyes, it applies well and doesn't require any hard application but also allows you to create a soft, sharp wing. Does it last all day? It does, but if you are having a nap it will smudge but that's okay you can re-do it. The liner does feel weird because it is quite small and weird to use but I love it.

DRUGSTORE: Collection Extreme 24Hr Felt Tip Liner | I think this was my first felt tip liner, I won't lie I was not happy about the end result, there was nothing wrong with the applicator for me but the product wasn't as dark on my skin as I wanted it to be. This liner, didn't last all day for me and did look more like an eyeshadow liner. On some days when I am having problems with my liner, I do use this as an outline to create a wing, we all have those days. The applicator is very good, however, for filling in the triangle part of the wing. I haven't purchased it again since buying it but that's not to say that Collection's products aren't good. For me, their eyeliner wasn't the one.

HIGHEND: Kat Von D Liner in "Trooper" | Now, this was a birthday present but I won't be biased. I have had this liquid liner on my list for a very long time. I have watched many videos on this eyeliner and loads of makeup looks, and it's just lovely and dark. The first time I opened it I was so excited, the liner is very dark, once you've shaken it a bit the result is amazing. The felt tip liner is very precise quite similar to the So Fine liner's easyness. The liner is easy to use and I'm glad I receieved this as a birthday present!

DRUGSTORE: MUA Matte Liquid Liner / Extreme Black Liquid Liner | Now, if you've been reading my blog for a while you'll probably realise that in most of my makeup posts, I talk about at least one of these liners. They are just amazing, I wouldn't recommend this as your first step in to the winged liner world as it's liquid so it might be hard to use but if you are comfortable do use this. I have been through maybe 6 of these in the last 3 years - it so longlasting, it passes the crying test! If you cry, it will last forever and ever. It's very dark, it's precise. The only thing that I do not like about this liner, is that after a while it dries which makes it hard to use it after a while, it might be to do with me but that's my only criticism of this liner.

HIGHEND: Calvin Klein Liquid Liner | This was my first liquid liner that I used, I raved about it to everyone before I started blogging. I don't think anyone else sells this product anymore, it has been a very long time. I tried searching but couldn't find it but I wanted to mention this liner because, I was obsessed with it. It was so price, the applicator was the Tarte So Fine applicator but in liquid form. I loved it so much but was very upset once it was discontinued.

Where are your favourite liquid liners from? High end or drugstore?

Get Ready With Me For My Birthday

Sunday, 15 January 2017

Well, first things first 'Happy Birthday to me'. I celebrated my birthday meal yesterday and it took me a while to get ready so I thought that I might as well share it with you.

Now, recently my skin has been amazing but I did have a few blemishes in certain areas. So before wearing makeup, I spent time taking care of my skin. First, I did a home facial steam with rosemary oil to open up my pores and to allow the steam to clear up my face a bit. After using this steam (which I will be sharing with you in a DIY Skincare Series post next week), I applied a Superdrug Deep Sea Mineral Facial Mask for roughly 10-15 minutes. In that time, I painted my toenails and read some blog posts. After that, I rinsed off the mask and with my exfoliating brush I cleaned my face with the Clinique Facial Soap.

Makeup:

Clinique Universal Primer

Body Shop Camouflaged Concealer Corrector

Clinique Superbalanced Foundation

LA Pro Girl Concealer

Ben Nye Banana Powder

MAC Pressed Powder

Tarte Blush in Authentic

Anatasisa Beverly Hills Dipbrow Promade

MUA Eyebrow Pencil in Burnette

Tarte Eyeshadow in Hot Mama and Stained Glass and Still Life

Clinique High Impact Mascara

What makeup look do you go for on a night out or even your birthday?

Hit Or Miss

Hit Or Miss, Radiant Creamy Concealer

As you can tell by today's title, I will be talking to you all about products that I think are amazing and worth the value but also the products that are not that great...So without further ado, let's get to it.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer | Now, I bought this ages ago because nearly every beauty guru that I watch on Youtube raves about this product. So I had very high expectations for this, but it didn't meet them. I didn't think that this concealer was all that, I personally don't like it but for a natural look this could be a good concealer to use. It didn't cover the dark circles that I had despite putting on a decent amount and setting it with translucent powder.

Would I buy it again? No.

LA Pro Girl Concealer | In comparison to the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, this is amazing concealer. Some people have said that it is very drying but I don't think so. I think that this concealer is very high coverage, lasts all day and reduces the appearance of under eye circles. I would definitely recommend this drugstore concealer.

Would I buy it again? Yes, I have one more already waiting to be opened.

Real Techniques Miracle Sponge | Now, this sponge is amazing and get it to the nooks and crannies of your eyes, The flat shape allows you to blend in the liquids better but ever since I purchased the B.Cosmetics Beauty Blender but thoughts have changed. I do love this sponge and it will also be a favourite of mine.

Would I buy it again? Maybe.

B.Cosmetics Beauty Blender | This beauty blender is a dupe for the original beauty blender as I talked about in my A Beauty Blender Dupe Is All You Need post. I love the teardrop shape of this beauty blender and how dense it is. Similar to the miracle sponge is works well with liquids and blends it in incredibly well giving your complexion is a dewy effect.

Would I buy it again? Yes, I have 3 more ready to use.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Promade | I love a good promade and despite that fact that this is a bit on the pricey side that other affordable promade, it is worth it. I have been using this promade for roughly 8 months and I am nowhere near the bottom of the tub. It's so long lasting and glides on well with an eyebrow brush, I would definitely make sure that when you are purchasing this promade, you make sure that it matches the same colour as your eyebrows. Also, use very light strokes when filling in your eyebrows as it can come out a bit too harsh.

Would I buy it again? Yes.

Do you have any products that you think belong in the hit or miss category? Do you agree with any products that I have addressed above?

Tarte Pretty Paintbox Review

Friday, 13 January 2017

One of the makeup brands that has been on my list for many months has to be Tarte. I have watched and read endless amounts of reviews on this brand, many of which include words like 'amazing' 'long lasting' and 'beautiful'. So of course, being the Curious George that I am, I had to venture out and request it.

The Tarte Pretty Paintbox is a huge book full of many eyeshadows, a glossy lip paint, a liquid eyeliner, mascara, blushes and highlight. Now like every makeup product, there are people that love the product and hate the product, personally I love this product very much. This was my first time trying Tarte and I must say that I am very happy with the package. The eyeshadows that I have been using are not extremely pigmented, but beautiful mattes for an everyday basis. They apply very well on the brush and blend beautifully. The eyeshadow book is mainly made up of many mattes for a natural makeup look, but they also have really lovely eyeshadows for dramatic smokey eyes and more. My two favourite eyeshadows at the moment, have to be Van Gogh with it and Stained glass, the two shadows together create a burgundy matte eye that definitely compliments brown eyes. Moving on to the blushes and higlighters... The highlighters are incredibly shiny across your cheekbones and it lasts all day. At the moment, I have been mixing Unique and Authentic together which works very well against my skin tone. The blush Moment also compliments my skin for an everyday simple look.

We can't forget my favourite part of makeup, the liquid eyeliner. The micro eyeliner that it comes with is absolutely amazing, I am a huge sucker for eyeliners. I must say that this eyeliner would be a great dupe for the Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner - the pigmentation is incredible and it stays on throughout the day. I haven't tested the crying technique yet, but when I do I'll be sure to let you know. I have only used the mascara once, but I love how the bristles lengthen my eyelashes and make them look individual - I love that look.

For my first time ever I was thoroughly impressed with these eyeshadows, and I can understand the rave about them indeed. I will definitely be looking for more eyeshadows to purchase from Tarte.

Have you used this palette before or have you tried Tarte?

A Fitness Plan For 2017

Sunday, 8 January 2017

As I am sure you are all aware by now, I have a wee obsession with fitness. The idea of working hard to achieve your own goal makes me happy and that can be applied to everyday life not just fitness. Reading and listening to a lot of people's personal resolutions for this year, the one thing that stuck out was people want to be fit and healthy. I support everyone that it currently on that track, I hope you do well and are happy with the outcome. So for today's post, I thought I'd give you ideas on a fitness plan that you could use...

Create a plan that is adaptable for your lifestyle

A lot of people create a plan for themselves that doesn't fit in their lifestyle, for those that work or attend school or full-time parents, etc. Make sure that your plan fits in with what you do on an everyday basis, whether that all you do is a 30 minute at home workout or a 10 minute run. It doesn't matter how little or much you do, it's based on what you want to do.

You can eat pizza, chocolate and sweets

Some people may assume that once you start becoming fit or going to the gym, you can't eat certain types of foods. You can. It's all about balancing things out, you need to treat yourself every once in a while! You could eat a salad and then some chocolate, balance things out, don't stop yourself from eating other foods.

Find a personal trainer

If you are someone that does not know anything about fitness, I'd recommend finding a personal trainer to help you. Or if you don't want to spend too much money on a personal trainer, watch loads of YouTube videos that are informational to help. I'd recommend Robin Gallant and Whitney Simmons, they have a lot of informational videos on form and gym equipment.

Make a goal that you would like to achieve

This is obviously very broad. Some people may want to loose a certain amount of weight or gain a certain amount of weight. It is all dependant on the person, other people just want to improve their stamina and fitness. Make a goal that you believe is realistic but even that you can be able to go above and beyond by surprising yourself.

Have you made a fitness plan this year? If so, share it in the comments below.

A Beauty Blender Dupe Is All You Need

Saturday, 7 January 2017

The other day it came to my attention that when I am applying my makeup, there is only one item that I use the most. My beauty blender. I don't own the original beauty beauty, I purchased the B.Cosmetics Beauty Blender which is so good at blending in products well, it is the same shape as the original beauty blender but cheaper! Especially as at the moment, Superdrug are selling four beauty blenders for the price of £9!

I think it's weird how a small egg shaped can blend in makeup easily but I love it. Before the beauty blenders came out, I always use to use brushes for everything sometimes even my hands, but now I think I only use brushes for my blush and eyeshadow. The B.Cosmetics Latex Free Beauty Blender has the same shape at the original beauty blender, the teardrop shape allows you to get in the inner corners of your eyes whilst blending in your concealer. I like to use my beauty blender for blending in the obvious, my foundation. I like to use my beauty blender for my concealer and to powder my face with a translucent powder.

What's your favourite beauty tool?
