March Makeup Wishlist

Sunday, 26 February 2017

It's March soon and I haven't done a wishlist in ages.  I have a few makeup products on my radar. One of the main items that I am excited about purchasing is from the influence of Lydia Elise Millen who recently put up a vlog where she was in Paris and Giorgio Armani gave her the new release of their foundation, which I was like "I NEED". The original silk foundation was on my list, but I said to myself "why not try the newest release" hence why it's on my list.  There is more on my wishlist, so I thought that I would share them with you...Have fun browsing!

What's on your March Makeup Wishlist?

An Interview With Jodie Melissa

Friday, 24 February 2017

Hello, Jodie. Please introduce yourself.
1) Hello! I feel like I want to say 'I'm Jodie' but you definitely already know that! I'm 21 and I live in a little town in North Wales. I graduated from uni last year and now I work full time as a Social Media Manager/ Content Director for a beauty company.

Why did you start blogging?
2) It was a while ago so I can't remember exactly, but I had been reading other blogs and watching Youtube videos and I guess that just inspired me to start my own. I have always loved all things beauty, and I just wanted to be a part of a community with like-minded people.

How long have you been blogging for and is it a hobby or a job?
3) I have been blogging consistently since May 2015, but I started blogging 8 years ago on and off! At the minute blogging is just a hobby, but I would love to get to the stage where I generate some income from it.

Who are your favourite bloggers/instagrammers/influencers?
4) Ooo that's a tough one, I have a lot! I think that Sally from themakeupdirectory.co.uk, Gemma from gemmalouise.co.uk and Lily from pintsizedbeauty.com are fab! I find their content useful, exciting and they are all genuinely lovely girls that I feel like I have quite a lot in common with!
What does your blogging routine include?
5) I feel like my routine actually fits around blogging. This month I have finally managed to stick to a schedule and post three times a week, so I have been writing posts a week before hand and then tweaking them the night before. I take the majority of my photos at the weekend because it's just too dark after work. Lately, I have really been enjoying popping to my local coffee shop and just writing up a couple of posts there in the evenings/ weekend, that's kind of become part of my weekly routine now.

What's your favourite thing about blogging and your least favourite thing?
6) My favourite thing is having a hobby, I hate being bored and luckily blogging keeps me on my toes. Plus I'm in a long-distance relationship and it's nice to have a distraction. I think my least favourite thing is scheduling tweets, I know more people read my posts when I schedule tweets but it's the task I really hate doing.

What are your personal/blogging goals for the future?
7) Oo good question! I haven't thought about this since the start of the year really, but I'm trying to stay fit and healthy and it's definitely something I want to blog about soon. In terms of blogging goals I just want to continue creating content that I'm happy with and adds to the community, I spoke about it in my recent heart to heart http://www.jodiemelissa.com/2017/01/a-heart-to-heart.html post, I never want to blog just for the sake of it, and fingers crossed that will pay off and people will enjoy my content.

You're getting married soon, have you incorporated this into your blog and what are you excited about?

8) Ahh this question has got me excited, it's all I seem to think about at the minute! I have written a couple of wedding related posts and I will definitely be documenting the whole thing - I'm just too excited not to share it. Sounds so cheesy but I'm excited to see my partner for the first time on the wedding day and have all of our family and friends in one place, we're hoping it will be one big relaxed celebration! Of course, I'm excited about the venue, catering, hair, makeup, dresses etc also!

Thank you to Jodie for allowing me to ask her a few questions, I hope you enjoyed it and follow her on her social media platforms;

More Tips For Newbie Bloggers

Monday, 20 February 2017

Welcome back to another post all about a few tips for some newbie bloggers, my last post seemed to be a hit and many people loved it so I decided to share a few more tips for you! These tips have helped me so much and I'm still learning as the days go by...

Purchase an URL

Ever since I purchased an URL and I have realised that my traffic has increased a lot as my blog is easily accessible. Purchasing an URL allows you to monitor your traffic a lot better as well via Google Analytics and Bloglovin. Through this, you will be able to increase your DA which is your domain authority - the higher your domain authority is the better your website, as it predicts how well your website will rank in search engines. You can check this via MOZ. The good thing about purchasing an URL is that it is inexpensive, if you purchase it from GoDaddy you could get it for as little as 99p!

Create a brand logo/design

As I am sure you have realised a lot of bloggers and YouTubers have their own brand design which people notice them by. If I had to show you the brand logo for Nike, you'll automatically remember it because it is seen everywhere. Think of this when you're making your own brand logo as this is what people will associate with you and your blog. Once you have made it, put it at the bottom of each blog post so that everyone knows it!

Upload a photo to Instagram everyday

Everyone hates the new Instagram algorithm, it's important to use this as an advantage. If you post at least once a day, it is mostly likely people will see it whilst scrolling down. Posting a photo will also help to increase your followers, but it is vital that you carrying on posting to Instagram as you will loose followers (I know right, annoying). Also, use the Instagram stories to your advantage as people will become more interested in your life and stories and may end up following you!

Create a legal page

If your blog contains affiliate links, uses Google Adsense it is important to make sure you create a legal page to tell people about this. In your legal page, you should include the fact that your website contains cookies, you use affiliate programmes and list them and you use Google Adsense. In a way, it's a form of a disclaimer for others.

February Makeup Menu

Saturday, 18 February 2017

february makeup menu,

It's a new month which means a new monthly makeup menu. This year one of my goals is to purchase more makeup products so this month I decided to use more products that I don't usually use and also change my techniques a little bit.

BASE: As we all know, priming is the first step to ensuring that our makeup stays all day. My primer hasn't changed but I do have my eye on the Too Faced Hangover Primer. I don't rub my primer in, this whole month I have been pressing my primer into my skin and I have seen a complete difference in my base. On to my foundation, before I use to use a foundation brush to apply my Clinique Superbalanced foundation and then blend it in with my beauty blender, but this month I've gone back to the drugstore favourites, Real Technique. The Real Technique Buffing Brush has been amazing at giving me a natural, glowy look to my complexion. On to concealing my under eyes, I haven't stopped using the LA Pro Girl Concealer as it's my absolute favourite. I apply this concealer with the applicator under my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, my forehead, chin and around my mouth.

POWDER: To make sure that my under eyes are set and don't crease throughout the day, I love to use a translucent powder. This month I have been loving the Ben Nye Powders in Banana and Topaz - both are two different shades but I like to alternate between the two. I have been baking my face a bit this month for only 2-3 minutes whilst I apply on my eyeshadow. To set the rest of my face, I use what is left of my MAC Pressed Powder (I'm trying to finish the powder so that I can purchase another one).

EYES/EYEBROWS: For my eyebrows, I have been using a combination of products. To fill in my eyebrows, I use the MUA Eyebrow Pencil and then I clean up my eyebrows with the same concealer. To make sure that my eyebrows are a bit darker, I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Promade . On to my eyes, I like to set it with translucent powder as a primer. I have been obsessed with the Tarte Pretty Paintbox, some of the eyeshadows are about to hit pan so I might need to buy more Tarte products. The shades that I have been loving are "Stained Glass", "Hot Mama" and "Still Life". I can't live without winged liner, so I have been using the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Tropper, I wrote a post about it here in depth. To coat my eyelashes, I have been using the Giorgio Armani mascara in "Eyes To Kill" which is absolutely beautiful! My lashes look gorgeous.

LIPS: I have been mixing lip products together to create an ombre look. To lightly outline my lips I have been using MAC in Vino which is weird as it's a bit purply but I lightly to it to make my lips look a bit bigger. Using my NYX Butter Lip Gloss in Gingersnap, I apply it all over my lips and in the middle of my lips, I use the Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint to create a fuller lip that is beautifully glossy.

What is on your February Makeup Menu?

Brands I Would Like To Try More Of

Thursday, 16 February 2017

brands i would like to try more of

This year I am trying to put more of my interest into makeup, although I am a beauty blogger I don't buy a lot of makeup I thought that I might start by trying out more brands...

Bobbi Brown | I have been recommended to this brand many a time, but I have no idea what to purchase first. At the moment, I have been told to purchase their foundation sticks which I look forward to. Previously, I have worn their Sheer Finishing Powder which I loved as it was a matte powder and it made my skin look youthful and glowy.

Illamasqua | I am Instagram obsessed and I came across this makeup artist and beauty blogger by the name of Shantel, her makeup always looks flawless and she's always using products from the Illamasqua brand. Since her makeup looks unbelievably gorgeous at all times, she's influenced me to look more into their brand. First on their list - Illamasqua Radiance Veil.

Colourpop | Everyone's heard of Colourpop, everyone probably has a least one liquid lipstick from there. I have had Colourpop on my radar for a while, it's annoying though as I prefer to swatch a makeup product before purchase which I can't do with Colourpop as it's in America. But, I need to take the plunge soon as....I think some of the nude, brown liquid lips are next on my list to purchase.

Giorgio Armani | I have had my eyes on purchasing the Giorgio Armani Silk Foundation for the longest time ever, after watching endless videos on reviews and makeup tutorials, I just have to try it out. As part of my Giorgio Armani perfume set, a mini sample of their mascara came with it which is amazing. I love the way it coats my eyelashes well and lengthens them effectively.

What brands would you like to try?

There's A New Look

Monday, 13 February 2017

As you can see, there's something new about ThatBelleMakeup. I present to you the new, clean, confident and aesthetically pleasing brand of ThatBelleMakeup. For months, I have been looking for a new blog design that was affordable and easy to use, there's something that I quite liked about this design that is so clean and different. It kind of reminded me of an online form of Instagram.

I have been blogging for a year and a few months now, I have been through many blogging platforms such as Squarespace, Blogger and Wordpress but always find myself back on Blogger. I have had many designs over the past year, I change them quite a lot but I am happy to say that I'll be with this design for a while. Apart from this, there are two major changes on the blog, on the side, you'll see a bag that guides you to my favourite items on Shopstyle that you can shop for and due to this I have removed my "shop" page. I have also change the advertising packages on my blog, which you access to the right of my page under categories.

I hope that this design is pleasing to the eye and that you will come back soon! Once again, welcome to the new ThatBelleMakeup. I'd love to know your opinions, please leave a comment down below and tell me what you think.

The Importance Of Pampering Yourself

Tuesday, 7 February 2017

the importance of pampering yourself, bannatyne days

The word "pamper" means to indulge oneself with every attention, comfort and kindness. But the question is do we pamper ourselves?

I have always loved the idea of spoiling yourself and pampering yourself because we deserve it. There are many of us that works 24/7 and attend school, that spend endless hours working but never treat ourselves at the end of it. There are many of us that are mothers, careers and more who work everyday but never treat ourselves at the end of it. There's more of us that do more things that we can think of for example spending hours thinking about others things, but we never give ourselves breaks.

It is essential that you take time out of your schedule to pamper yourself even if it's for 20 minutes, your body and brain will love you for it. Even though some people don't like going to the gym, but it's the aspect of attention that our body sometimes requires. Sometimes even spending a bit of money on a cute purse is pampering yourself. Personally, I like to do a facial mask at least 3 times a week and watch a tv series - although it doesn't sound like much, it's the break that you need.

Bannatyne spa daysRecently, I visited one of the Bannatyne Spa's which I enjoyed my time at. The reception was lovely and welcoming, the massage was beautiful and different. Before this, I never had a massage but for my first time I enjoyed it, it is something that I would/should be doing nearly every 2 months. The luxury of it highlights the attention, comfort and kindness that you should be giving yourself. Even taking a trip to get your nails done with your friends is another form of pampering, the thing that I love the most about pampering is that it can be so small but makes a massive impact.

Make it your mission this year to take some time out and pamper yourself, take as many breaks as you need because you deserve it!

What do you like to do to pamper yourself?

The Rose Quartz Facial Oil Review

Sunday, 5 February 2017

Skin Chemists, Rose Quartz, Valentine's Day, February
As you all know, I am obsessed with skincare. Personally, I care more about the way my skin glows/looks underneath than the foundation, I am always cautious about it. Fortunately enough, I was kindly sent a package from Skin Chemists last year where I talked about their Snail Range which up till this day I still love and use. Once again, they contacted me about this beautiful oil that I am in love with.

What's the oil you may ask? It's the Rose Quartz Age Defence Youth Facial Oil. Now, I am sucker for a good facial oil especially with it being the colder months, it is vital to take care of your skin properly. Facial oils tend to work well with my skin during this period and maintain a clear base for an everyday basis. It is best to use a facial oil at night as it helps to restore, nourish and tone your skin whilst your sleeping for a better look in the morning, and with this oil I've seen that it definitely works. I love to use this bottle especially after a facial mask as together they make my skin feel unbelievably soft and in the morning, my skin feels so smooth and fresh.

The Rose Quartz Oil illuminates your face allowing it to have a beautiful glow without highlighter whilst toning your skin succesfully. The Rose Otto Oil helps to restore the balance in the skin which I can definitely say has worked as well as firming my skin. The Rose Otto Oil also helps to strengthen the collagen-elastin network in our skin which creates that youthful, supple, stuble glow. As well as this, it treats dry skin that is in need of deep moisturisation. I don't need to have age defence creams or oils but it doesn't hurt to try, I love this oil and it pains me to say that I've nearly finished the bottle!

As February is known as the month of love, SkinChemists are having a sale on the Rose Quartz collection to celebrate. If you do decide to purchase any product from the Rose Quartz collection, use my code BELLEBLOG to get 20% off the sale price as well! This beautiful oil at the moment retails for £24.99, but you can get it for £19.99! This is lasting the whole of February so make sure you stock up!

Have you ever tried anything from Skin Chemists? If not, what is your favourite facial oil?

Welcome to February everyone! I don't know about you but I felt like January dragged a lot.
