Why Did I Start Blogging?

why did I start blogging, blogger

For those who don't know I started blogging two years ago, I shifted from different blogging platforms such as Squarespace, Wordpress and Blogger - I will do an in-depth review on what I thought but I finally found my place at Blogger. I changed my URL and further developed my blog as thatbellemakeup as of January 2016 and over the last year, my blog has grown a lot to which I didn't think would happen.

The question is..why did I start blogging? I have always loved to write, I've written books (they are silly) and poems etc - they are totally embarrassing. As soon as I gained an interest in beauty and little hacks here and there I decided to share them online, something that I wouldn't do before. Ever since I joined the blogging community, I find it hard to stop blogging. For me, blogging is a hobby and I think that everyone does this as a full-time job is amazing. I have enjoyed growing my blogging platform and I hope that it goes even further!

In the years that I have been blogging and there are a few blogging gals that I was obsessed with at the beginning and I am still obsessed. Some of the blogging gals that I've been loving are Pintsizedbeauty, JasminetalksBeauty, BeautyByKelsey, JodieMelissa FromRoses, InTheFrow and SophiesMakeup.

Where do I see my blog in the next couple of months? Well, I have always been a massive fan of fashion, I am fashion obsessed so you will definitely be seeing some fashion posts on here! I'm still going to stick to my general content and expand further. I will definitely be continuing this blog for a while, it's my happy place. I hope whoever is reading this blog, enjoys it and enjoys my further content.

If you're a Blogger, why did you start blogging?

How To Deal With Hayfever

Sunday, 25 June 2017

Put your hands up if you are suffering from hayfever, right now? Summer is a great time of the year but for those hayfever sufferers, it is literally the worst time of the year. The constant running nose, itchy eyes, heat rash, itchy throat, ear aches and the list goes on. For today's post, I'm sharing my tips to deal with hayfever as much as possible during the Summer.

Start taking anti-histamines before Summer start so that your body gets used to it. I like to start taking my antihistamines during Spring when the pollen count isn't that bad, personally, I find that once start taking it earlier I don't get hayfever as bad as I would usually.

Drink as much water as possible. I like to stay as hydrating as possible during this period especially as I find that my throat is constantly dry because it's so itchy. I tend to drink 800ml -1 litres a day but I'm slowly trying to drink a least 2 litres a day!

Try not to roll in the grass in the park. I remember when I did this, it was the worst mistake I have ever made honestly I had swollen eyes, itchy skin and a runny nose. I looked and felt absolutely terrible so I would not recommend it at all!

Purchase eye drops, nasal spray and a box of tissues. I'm telling you right now if there is one thing that you will take from reading this post it's to have an excess amount of this throughout your Summer. Eye drops are so necessary with the constant swollen and itchy eyes. A box of Kleenex tissues and a good nasal spray is perfect for your runny nose!

Use cucumbers when necessary for the swollen eyes. My eyes tend to get swollen quite a lot when my hayfever is bad so I like to use some cold cucumbers on my eyes to reduce the swelling but also it makes me feel incredibly fresh. This would be perfect on a spa day as well!

Summer Fragrances That I Want To Try

Friday, 23 June 2017

summer fragrances, jo malone

Now, I know that this Summer it is most likely that we won't be spraying on perfume that much due to excessive heat (especially with the heat wave that we have just been through), but saying that there will be days where I want to put on some perfume. Rummaging through my perfumes the other day, I found that I don't have enough summer fragrances to spray this summer and there are a few products that I'd love to try.

This Summer, I am on the look for fresh, clean and rosy scents. The Maison Marigela perfumes smell and sound amazing! Currently, on my wishlist would have to be Beach Walk, Flower Market and Lazy Sunday Morning. They are all associated with the Summer time, I think they'd be perfect for this Summer indeed.

Of course, I have to talk about Jo Malone, what would a perfume post be without Jo Malone? I will always love the English Pear and Freesia which is a strong, floral scent, it is most likely that I need to purchase one more. However, there are more Jo Malone fragrances that I want to try out this Summer - Wild Bluebell is the scent that has been on my mind since my hand and arm massage with them. It's such a fresh scent that reminds me of fresh sheets and lavender. The other fragrance that is on my mind is the Peony & Blush Suede which is another perfect scent for this Summer!

The last perfume brand that is on my list is a recommendation from Lily, who shared her love for the Aerin perfumes with me. Once I saw the packaging, I fell in love immediately. The three scents that are calling my name have to be Lilac Path which is described to have an infusion of Galbanum, Jasmine, Soft Angelica Seed Oil and Orange Flower. Sounds like a perfect fragrance for this time of the year! The other fragrance that I have my eye on is Ikat Jasmine which is described to have Sandalwood. It isn't the type of scent you'd associate with Summer but I never fail to add in a few woody scents into the mix, it's an obsession. Thank you, Lily for the recommendation - my wishlist is growing.

What are your summer fragrances this year?

10 Things To Do This Week

10 things to do this week

It may not be the first day of the week but there is still so much that you can do this week. I know it's hot believe, I'm sweating, but enjoy the heat whilst you can!

1. Buy a fresh bouquet of flowers | You all know what type of flowers I am going to talk about! Peonies, of course! The bouquet of flowers that looks and feels amazing during the summer time. At the moment I am fawning over the bouquets that Appleyard have, I think that they are beautiful.

2, Visit the beach | This is the perfect time to visit the beach, eat an ice cream and chill by the sea until sunset.

3. Opt to cycle around your town | Instead of walking in this heat (I don't blame if you don't), maybe try and cycling. If you have a bike or the town that you live in has bikes to hire for the day, why not? Explore other cities or places in your town.

4. Host an impromptu barbecue | A good barbecue in the Summer is amazing, surrounded by friends and family with good food. I'd suggest some recipes from Jamie Oliver.

5. Visit the gym | You might be like I don't want to know exercise in this humidity but the AC in the gym would probably be the best option. But working in the gym in conditioned conditions feels amazing! Step closer in the healthy lifestyle.

6. Chill in the park | For my hayfever fam, I'd advise taking your daily dose of anti-histimines, nasal spray and eye drops if you want to go to the park. But you could also have a small BBQ in the park as well. Use the trip to the park to..

7. Sunbathe | Work on getting a few shades darker with this heat but it is not going to last long so spray on the sunscreen and sunbathe with a couple of classes of ice water.

8. Go to a lido | Swimming in this weather is another way to cool off and get in your daily fitness routine.

9. Make a fruit salad | Oh I love a good fruit salad in the summer - watermelon, melon, apples, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and mangos! That is such a good sald, I might need to make one now!

10. Go to an ice cream parlour | I have an obsession with ice cream, I love it. It cools me down quick feels good. Especially if it's a Magnum! Mmm.

What will you be doing this week in this heat?

2 Things I've Learnt This Year So Far

2 Things I've Learnt This Year

We are in the sixth month of the year! Only 6 more months until 2018, I honestly can't believe it, but that's for another post. For today's post, I thought I'd share 2 things that I have learnt this year.

PLEASE YOURSELF
As humans a lot of the time we tend to please our friends before we please ourselves, which is absolutely normal (heck, I do it) but it's also important to please yourself first of all. If you're happy then pleasing others will make you feel even better. Spending time pleasing yourself whether that's by buying the latest makeup product, spending money on pampering yourself or even just ordering a bouquet of flowers is important. I know that majority of us feel guilty about being selfish in certain situations but don't forget that you're important, don't put yourself down, continue to please yourself.

POSITIVITY IS IMPORTANT
As we have recently seen over the last couple of months, a lot of bad things has happened in the world, I have witnessed so many accounts of positivity around the world as it's made me so happy. It made me realise that even if you're a minority, your positivity and love makes a majority happy. Spread your positivity, make people happy even if it's a smile to a stranger you never realise how it could make them happy or even change their life. The good thing is about the world that we currently live in is that we don't have to spread positivity based on everyday situations, you can spread positivity online through social media.
