Instagram Business Account

The Instagram algorithm has been the topic of everyone's conversation nowadays on Twitter. Many of us (I think) have been seeing a decrease in a number of followers we have due to this change, it's incredibly annoying especially as many of us spend a long time making sure that our Instagram looks nice. For those that don't know about the change in the Instagram algorithm, the posts no longer appear in a chronological order, most of the time I find posts from two days ago or 12 hours ago - I refreshed to see the recent photos, not the old ones. But I'm not here to complain about this Instagram algorithm, I do enough of that on Twitter! For today's post, I thought I'd share some of the benefits of switching to a business account. The real question is, is it worth it?

Switching from a personal account to a business account is simple, just click on the Settings part of your profile and scroll down to the bottom to change to a Business account. You can only change to a Business account if you have a Facebook account!

You can see what times your followers are online so that you can post your photos = more likes on your photos but also more exposure to your photos. You can also see days your followers are more active, this could be beneficial if you are hosting a 24hr giveaway or a promotion. With your followers, you would be able to see the age range, prominent gender and top locations. You can view how all of your posts are doing in the period that you got your Business Instagram Account. You can obviously view your likes like normal and comments but this time with the business account, you can view how many of your posts have been saved by other people. You can see a number of impressions (the total number of times that your post has been seen) received on each post. You can see how many unique accounts saw each post as well as the number of engagement. Overall, you can see the number of times your profile is seen in a week, the number of times unique accounts have visited your Instagram profile and if you have a website link in your bio, the number of website clicks your link gets.

I am glad that I changed to a business account because for me it has helped me to be a bit more frequent with a number of times I post photos on Instagram. Before changing to this, I didn't post as much as I do now, you'd think it would add pressure but it doesn't. It provides me with a boost and makes me feel more organised! Also, it's an added part of analytics that you could use in a media kit as well as your monthly analytics. Would I change back to a personal account? No, I wouldn't, I find that I have more control over my account and happier with the progress I've made on Instagram.

Have you changed to a business account? Would you?
